Two Palestinians are killed by Israeli forces in a shootout in the occupied West Bank

Days after Israel finished a significant two-day assault intended to clamp down on terrorists, Israeli soldiers murdered two Palestinians in a key city in the occupied West Bank on Friday.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-61941″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-two-palestinians-are-killed-by-israeli-forces-in-a-shootout-in-the-occupied-west-bank-3898061-507427697.jpg” alt=”” width=”1621″ height=”1079″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-two-palestinians-are-killed-by-israeli-forces-in-a-shootout-in-the-occupied-west-bank-3898061-507427697.jpg 670w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-two-palestinians-are-killed-by-israeli-forces-in-a-shootout-in-the-occupied-west-bank-3898061-507427697-150×100.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1621px) 100vw, 1621px” />

The two guys, who the Israeli internal security organization Shin Bet alleged were responsible for a gunshot incident this week, were reportedly killed in a gunfight in the center of Nablus.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, two men—Khayri Mohammed Sari Shaheen, 34, and Hamza Moayed Mohammed Maqbool, 32—were killed by Israeli fire. Despite the furious Israeli operation this week in the Jenin refugee camp, the killings are a part of a spiraling violence that has been going on for a whole year and shows no signs of stopping.

They come after a gunshot on Thursday that left an Israeli soldier dead close to an Israeli settlement in the West Bank. In response to a wave of Palestinian assaults on Israelis last spring, Israel has been conducting raids in the West Bank for the last 16 months.

In the West Bank, more than 140 Palestinians have died this year; at least 25 Israelis have also died as a result of Palestinian assaults, including four settlers who were shot last month.

In the 1967 Middle East conflict, Israel seized control of the West Bank, east Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. The Palestinians are looking for such areas for their future sovereign state.
