<p>The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) reportedly met with senior officials on Monday to discuss the next stage of the nation’s electric vehicle (EV) production, including Tesla’s investment proposal.</p>
<p>After Musk and Prime Minister Narendra Modi met during the latter’s official visit to the US in June, the Union Ministries of Commerce and Industry, Heavy Industry, and Electronics and Information Technology have been debating Tesla’s intentions in India.</p>
<p>According to a report published in September, Tesla has proposed to the government to establish a battery storage plant in India.</p>
<p>In recent discussions, the manufacturer of electric cars offered to bolster the nation’s battery storage capacities with its “Powerwall.”</p>
<p>Additionally, Musk wants to construct a Tesla supply network in India.</p>
<p>The EV manufacturer intends to purchase car components from India valued at much to $1.9 billion this year, according to Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal.</p>
<p>According to the minister, Tesla aimed to purchase $1.7–$1.9 billion worth of components from India this year, having already spent $1 billion on them last year.</p>
