Rahul and Priyanka will speak at separate public rallies in an MP that is headed to the polls next week

On October 10 and 12, respectively, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will speak at separate public rallies in Madhya Pradesh, which is due to hold elections.

This year’s 230-member Madhya Pradesh assembly elections are scheduled for November. While the opposition tries to take back control, the governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is working to hold onto its position of authority.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-221941″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-following-alleged-harassment-by-a-microfinance-company-a-farmer-in-karnataka-commi.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com following alleged harassment by a microfinance company a farmer in karnataka commi” width=”1284″ height=”719″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-following-alleged-harassment-by-a-microfinance-company-a-farmer-in-karnataka-commi.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-following-alleged-harassment-by-a-microfinance-company-a-farmer-in-karnataka-commi-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1284px) 100vw, 1284px” title=”Rahul and Priyanka will speak at separate public rallies in an MP that is headed to the polls next week 3″>

On October 10, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi will speak at a public rally in Beohari, Shahdol district, according to K K Mishra, head of the state Congress media department.

On October 12, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the party’s general secretary, would speak at a rally in Mandla, he added.

Along with other party officials, MP Congress leader Kamal Nath would speak to both audiences, Mishra added.

This will be Priyanka Gandhi’s fourth recent public rally in Madhya Pradesh. She spoke during a rally on October 5 at Mohankheda, Dhar district. She has previously spoken at rallies in Jabalpur and Gwalior.

After speaking to a crowd of people in Shajapur district on September 30, Rahul Gandhi will have his second such gathering in the state at a rally in Shahdol. Last year, his Bharat Jodo Yatra also traveled to the region.

Priyanka Gandhi promoted a caste census while reiterating the promises made by the Congress at her rally in Mohankheda. She also charged corruption on the part of the state’s BJP administration.

The Congress has made a number of pledges, including free and discounted electricity, the execution of the previous pension plan, the cancellation of agricultural loans, and Rs. 1,500 per month for women.

Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and independent candidates joined the Congress to form a coalition government under Kamal Nath since no party gained a clear majority in the 2018 state assembly elections.

In the 230-member House, the Congress had won 114 seats, while the BJP had secured 109.

But after just 15 months, the Jyotiraditya Scindia-loyal majority of Congress MLAs defected and joined the BJP, leading to the downfall of the Nath-led administration. In March 2020, the saffron party retook control, with Shivraj Singh Chouhan serving as chief minister once again.
