The 26th case of student suicide this year occurs in Rajasthan’s Kota

<p>Today, September 28, another student committed suicide in Kota, Rajasthan, bringing the total number of instances this year to 26. Mohammad Tanveer, a 20-year-old Kota resident who was self-studying, has been confirmed as the dead. He lived in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh. He shared a home with the dead student’s father. <p>Kota has seen a sharp increase in student suicide cases this year. Up to 15 pupils committed suicide at the nation’s coaching center last year. The death toll now stands at 26 this year. Over the course of the last eight years, this is the coaching hub’s highest-ever documented suicide rate. Every year, more than two lakh students relocate to Kota to study for competitive examinations like NEET and JEE, among others.</p>
<p>A 17-year-old female who was also getting ready for the NEET exam committed herself a few days earlier in Kota. Priyam Singh, the dead, lived in Mau, an area in Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, she moved to Kota around one and a half years ago to study for the medical entrance test. At the time, she was renting a single-person flat on Dakania Road. According to the authorities, the pupil ingested poison on his way home from the coaching center.</p>
<p>Kota coaching centers had already declared a two-month delay in the examinations. The administration of the hostels in Kota had also ordered that spring-loaded fans and “anti-suicide nets” be installed in the rooms of the students to make them “suicide-proof.”</p>
