<p>“I applaud the African Union’s admission as a full member of the G20. He said on X, then known as Twitter, “This membership, for which we have long advocated, would create a favorable environment for enhancing advocacy in favor of the Continent and its useful contribution to addressing global concerns.</p>
<p>The AU has 55 members at full strength, but six junta-ruled countries are now suspended. With over 1.4 billion inhabitants, it has a 3 trillion USD GDP as a whole. The G20 was made up of 19 nations and the EU, accounting for 85% of the global GDP, with South Africa being the sole member from the continent.</p>
<p>On X, previously known as Twitter, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said, “As a continent, we look forward to further advancing our aspirations on the global stage using the G20 platform.” Tinubu is in attendance at the meeting.</p>
<p>In order to control the global economy during the 2008 financial crisis, the G20 was created.With India attempting to reach agreement on a number of sensitive subjects and important G20 countries having divergent views on the Ukraine situation and climate change, the AU membership may be among the summit’s most concrete consequences.</p>
