IAF announced this on Sunday, marking the first time that it has taken part in major defense drill.

There will be five MiG-29, two IL-78, two C-130, and two C-17 aircraft in the Indian Air Force contingent.
According to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), a group of the Indian Air Force (IAF) left on Sunday to take part in Exercise “BRIGHT STAR-23,” a biannual trilateral multilateral exercise that will take place at Cairo (West) Air Base in Egypt from August 27 to September 16.

About 150 Indian Army men would also get airlift from the IAF transport aircraft.

The exercise’s goal is to provide collaborative operation planning and execution experience. Such encounters provide a way to advance strategic connections between participating countries in addition to fostering cross-border bonds. So, the MoD said, IAF contingents participating in flying exercises overseas are no less than Diplomats in Flight Suits.

According to the Ministry of Defense, India and Egypt have a remarkable connection and close collaboration. In the 1960s, the two countries collaborated on the construction of aircraft and aero engines, and Indian colleagues trained Egyptian pilots.

With the recent trips to Egypt by the leaders of the two civilisations’ air forces, as well as the Indian Defence Minister and Prime Minister, the friendship between the two nations was further cemented. The MoD spokesman said that frequent drills between the two nations’ armed forces have improved their combined training.
