SC Refuses To Consider Request Regarding Countrywide Road Safety Issue

The Supreme Court declined to hear a petition on the nation’s lack of road safety, stating that the reliefs requested are “so extensive” that they cannot be legally addressed in a single petition.

The majority of the problems made in the argument, according to a panel of judges led by S K Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia, are relevant to Tamil Nadu, and the petitioner may approach the state high court for the necessary remedy.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-61249″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-delhi-services-ordinance-sc-will-hear-delhi-governments-july-10-petition-download-2023-07-06t214725.393.jpg” alt=”” width=”1400″ height=”1049″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-delhi-services-ordinance-sc-will-hear-delhi-governments-july-10-petition-download-2023-07-06t214725.393.jpg 259w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-delhi-services-ordinance-sc-will-hear-delhi-governments-july-10-petition-download-2023-07-06t214725.393-150×112.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px” />

The petitioner, a native of the southern state, informed the court that his complaint related to road safety and that more than 5 lakh accidents occur nationwide each year. The court noted that there has been concerted streamlining of accident cases when the petitioner claimed one cannot get remedies in one location in road accident cases.

The court said about the reliefs requested in the plea that the state be ordered to demolish all unlawful constructions, “You may have a good motive, but they are so encompassing that this cannot be done in one petition judicially.”

When deciding the case, the court said that the petitioner was free to go before the high court if he desired any remedy that was peculiar to the state of Tamil Nadu.
