Faulty laptops were given to students in the Arunachal District, according to a probe

The devices were malfunctioning and ancient, according to a nine-member technical expert committee that was established by the Tirap district government in Arunachal Pradesh to investigate claims that it gave top CBSE test students in the area defective laptops. Up to 18 deserving kids who excelled in the Class X and XII examinations administered by the CBSE this year were awarded free computers by the district’s education department during a function on June 20.

The Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE)’s District Academic Toppers Award 2021–2022 included the laptop giveaway. Eight students did, however, return their computers, claiming that the devices were outdated and unusable owing to technical issues. Additionally, they said that the computers included names of prior users’ saved explicit films along with serious evidence of usage and wear, including scratches.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-61102″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-faulty-laptops-were-given-to-students-in-the-arunachal-district-according-to-a-probe-arunachal-cbse-toppers-laptops-prize-old-faulty-featured-image-750×375.jpg” alt=”” width=”1564″ height=”782″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-faulty-laptops-were-given-to-students-in-the-arunachal-district-according-to-a-probe-arunachal-cbse-toppers-laptops-prize-old-faulty-featured-image-750×375.jpg 750w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-faulty-laptops-were-given-to-students-in-the-arunachal-district-according-to-a-probe-arunachal-cbse-toppers-laptops-prize-old-faulty-featured-image-768×384.jpg 768w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-faulty-laptops-were-given-to-students-in-the-arunachal-district-according-to-a-probe-arunachal-cbse-toppers-laptops-prize-old-faulty-featured-image-150×75.jpg 150w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-faulty-laptops-were-given-to-students-in-the-arunachal-district-according-to-a-probe-arunachal-cbse-toppers-laptops-prize-old-faulty-featured-image.jpg 860w” sizes=”(max-width: 1564px) 100vw, 1564px” />

Hento Karga, the deputy commissioner for Tirap, formed an expert group under the direction of a circle officer to look into the situation. The state’s administration has made the decision to swap out the computers with new ones. The district administration has made the decision to properly inspect the new computers before giving them to the pupils in order to prevent any additional humiliation, according to Karga.

The company that provided the computers will be placed on a blacklist, the education department has determined. According to a department spokesman, the provider was chosen after adhering to the proper tendering procedure. In a message to the DDSE on Monday, the All Tirap Students’ Union (ATSU) called for a comprehensive inquiry of all personnel implicated in rigging the district academic toppers award for 2021–2022.
