When the explosions rocked the convention center, almost 2,000 people were attending a Christian prayer meeting hosted by Jehovah’s Witnesses. The three-day prayer meeting that started on October 27 came to an end today.

Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan described the occurrence as “very unfortunate” and said that all senior authorities had been dispatched to Ernakulam. They are also conducting an investigation to get further information.

It’s a very regrettable occurrence. We are gathering information on the occurrence. At Ernakulam are all of the senior authorities. DGP is approaching the location. We are giving it our full attention. DGP and I have talked. The Kerala chief minister was reported by news agency ANI as stating, “We need to get more details after the investigation.”

Speaking to Kerala CM, Amit Shah

Following many explosions at the convention center, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Union Home Minister Amit Shah talked to assess the situation.

According to ANI, the home minister has also directed the National Security Guard (NSG) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to immediately arrive and begin an investigation into the event.

Security guards have been stationed at the explosion site, and the area has been roped off. Moreover, ambulances were seen transporting wounded people.

Although the explosion’s nature was first unknown, several observers conjectured that it may have been a targeted strike. The event occurred the day after a Hamas official encouraged people to protest Israel’s conflict in Gaza by virtually participating in a gathering of pro-Palestine activists in Kerala.
