According to authorities, a complaint has been filed in the Muktsar district against six Punjab police officers, including a superintendent of police, on allegations of torturing an advocate while in custody, enabling unnatural intercourse, mistreating the man’s imprisonment, and posing a danger to his life.

According to the FIR, the complaint was filed on Monday against Muktsar SP (Investigation) Ramandeep Singh Bhullar, the CIA’s in-charge inspector Raman Kumar Kamboj, constables Harbans Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, and house guard Dara Singh.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-205432″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-no-quality-education-if-student-punished-on-religious-grounds-sc-on-up-student-sla.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com no quality education if student punished on religious grounds sc on up student sla” width=”1118″ height=”626″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-no-quality-education-if-student-punished-on-religious-grounds-sc-on-up-student-sla.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-no-quality-education-if-student-punished-on-religious-grounds-sc-on-up-student-sla-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1118px) 100vw, 1118px” title=”SP Is One of Six Policemen Charged in Punjab for Torturing an Attorney 6″>

The members of the Bar Association of Punjab and Haryana High Court have declared that they would not be at work in protest of the accused policemen’s alleged misdeeds and demand their arrest and firing.

Following a report from the CIA in-charge Kamboj that they had allegedly attacked a team of police officers and torn their uniforms, police detained the attorney and another person on September 14.

The advocate claimed that the police had treated them inhumanely after both had been placed in judicial custody.

Following his remarks, the Muktsar Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) ordered the police to file a complaint against the cops in an order dated September 22.

According to Section 2 (D) of the Criminal Procedure Code, the victim’s testimony is considered as a complaint since it “shows prima facie cognizable offenses of abetment of unnatural sex and causing injuries in wrongful confinement, causing threat to his life and liberty.”

“After reading his testimony, there are enough reasons to bring legal action against the police official or officer he cited. As a result, the court instructed the responsible SHO (station house office) PS (police station) Sadar Sr Muktsar Sahib to open an inquiry into the police personnel after filing a complaint against them.

The cops have been charged under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including 377 (unnatural offences—whoever engages in voluntary carnal conduct with any man, woman, or animal in violation of nature’s laws must be punished), 342 (wrongful imprisonment), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
