<p>Ali Fazal said, “There’s this assumed thing about men and I faced this on set and I don’t talk about it because there are people involved there,” in an interview with the entertainment website PinkVilla. But I do recall that a man and a woman had an intimate scene added at random, with the guy in question being myself. It wasn’t mentioned and wasn’t in the script. When I get on set, everyone is prepared, as if they have all had briefings, and I am just standing there.</p>
<p>“I said, ‘I’m not comfortable with it,’” he said. Now, I believe that was the first time on a set that folks weren’t anticipating a male to say that. Why is it thought I’m too prepared? Why does it seem like I should be fine? Due to the girl in question’s personality and the provided brief, she was persuaded. The brief was not presented to me, and it was never brought up. The kind of choreography it was made me uneasy.</p>
<p>“I, for the first time, felt cornered because everybody was like Tu toh launda hai yaar, isko kya problem ho rahi hai,” Ali said in his closing statement, expressing how he felt as if he could easily pull it off since he was a man. (He is a man. What is his issue?) Everyone is focusing on me. I probably felt for the first time what women have felt for years and decades.</p>
<p>Since making his international debut, Ali Fazal has garnered attention for his leading roles in high-profile foreign films, including Death on the Nile with Gal Gadot and Victoria and Abdul as the title character with Dame Judi Dench. In addition to Tabu’s Khufiya, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sara Ali Khan’s Metro in Dino, and the third season of the OTT series Mirzapur, Fazal will soon be seen in Bollywood.</p>
