<p>A traffic house guard who had just set himself on fire and was receiving treatment at a private hospital passed away on Friday, according to the police. <p>Ravinder lit himself on fire while on his way to the Home Guard Commandant’s office in Goshamahal in this city on Tuesday. When several bystanders told police about the event, they sent Ravinder to a public hospital. He was brought to a different hospital in the city with burns that covered more than 50% of his body.</p>
<p>The wife of the home guard said on Wednesday that her husband had contacted her on Tuesday to notify her that he had been “ill-treated” by two senior police officers, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a constable who worked in the commandant’s office. She also asked that legal action be taken against the policeman and the ASI.</p>
<p>When questioned about rumors that the house guard went to the office to inquire about an apparent delay in receiving his payment, the police denied this, claiming it was unrelated to pay.</p>
<p>On Thursday, Ravinder had a visit from Kishan Reddy, who is also the Union Minister for Tourism. Ravinder was getting treatment at the time.</p>
<p>Later, while addressing to media, he said that the Telangana BRS administration had broken its pledges and commitments to home guards about the improvement of their working conditions.</p>
<p>He pleaded with the house guards not to take such drastic measures.</p>
