Shinde Government Unable To Uphold Law And Order, Says Pawar

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, criticised the Eknath Shinde administration on Saturday for its “inability” to maintain peace and order in Maharashtra as it marked one year in office on June 30.

After a successful uprising against Uddhav Thackeray separated the Shiv Sena and toppled the Maha Vikas Aghadi administration, of which Pawar’s NCP and the Congress were a part, Shinde was appointed chief minister on June 30 of the previous year.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-50799″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-shinde-government-unable-to-uphold-law-and-order-says-pawar-sharad-pawar1-1687765336-750×422.jpg” alt=”” width=”1228″ height=”691″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-shinde-government-unable-to-uphold-law-and-order-says-pawar-sharad-pawar1-1687765336-750×422.jpg 750w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-shinde-government-unable-to-uphold-law-and-order-says-pawar-sharad-pawar1-1687765336-1024×576.jpg 1024w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-shinde-government-unable-to-uphold-law-and-order-says-pawar-sharad-pawar1-1687765336-768×432.jpg 768w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-shinde-government-unable-to-uphold-law-and-order-says-pawar-sharad-pawar1-1687765336-390×220.jpg 390w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-shinde-government-unable-to-uphold-law-and-order-says-pawar-sharad-pawar1-1687765336-150×84.jpg 150w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/www.theindiaprint.com-shinde-government-unable-to-uphold-law-and-order-says-pawar-sharad-pawar1-1687765336.jpg 1200w” sizes=”(max-width: 1228px) 100vw, 1228px” />

When asked about the Ekanth Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis government’s first anniversary, Pawar said, “There is a severe concern of law and order in the state. Women being attacked and gangs using koytas (sharp edged weapons) are big problems. The state’s administration is unable to keep the peace.

In addition to crimes against women, including some in which the accused used ‘koytas’ (a type of machete) to hack the victims to death, the opposition has been criticising the Shinde government over communal outbursts over posters of the 18th-century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan and the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in several locations.

The Shinde administration’s home ministry is held by deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.

Pawar responded to his previous claim that the rushed swearing-in of Fadnavis as chief minister in November 2019 after the Assembly elections was a “googly” bowled by him to reveal the BJP’s thirst for power. He said the saffron party didn’t grasp his delivery.

“They (the BJP and Fadnavis) never got my ‘googly’. Their wicket was lost. They won’t be aware of it since only the bowler is familiar with the “googly” method.

Pawar continued to make fun of the BJP by questioning why the party had an oath ceremony two days later (in November despite being aware that the NCP had abandoned its aspirations to form a coalition government with the BJP).

Only 80 hours were served by Fadnavis’ administration when Ajit Pawar of the NCP served as his deputy.
