Ramaphosa Applauds the G20 Membership of the African Union and Highlights Africa’s Juggling Act of Climate Promises and Economic Growth

<p>At the summit’s opening session in New Delhi, African Union President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his joy at the organization becoming a permanent member of the Group of 20 (G20).</p>

<p>The AAAA is a new international framework for funding sustainable development that was introduced in 2015 in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa.Its goal is to bring all financial flows and government initiatives into line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’s stated objective.</p>
<p>Azali Assoumani, the President of the Union of Comoros and the leader of the African Union, was asked to join the other permanent members of the G20 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.</p>
<p>He then slammed a ceremonial gavel, saying, “With everyone’s consent, I request the African Union head to take his seat as a permanent G20 member.”</p>
<p>Ramaphosa emphasized that while the globe through a period of recovery in the aftermath of the Covid-19 epidemic, the shift to low-carbon, climate resilient, and sustainable civilizations is achievable.</p>
<p>The president of South Africa, however, emphasized that African countries must achieve their climate pledges while overcoming major developmental obstacles including poverty, inequality, and unemployment.</p>
<p>Ramaphosa also made note of the fact that even if developing nations are not to blame for climate change, they are nonetheless suffering the most from it.</p>
<p>The job of keeping our climate obligations in the face of severe developmental obstacles like poverty, inequality, and unemployment falls to African and other emerging economy nations, Ramaphosa added.</p>
<p>The South African president made the statement in a post on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter. “Climate change, environmental degradation, unsustainable consumption and production, and resource scarcity are challenges that can only be addressed collectively and with a great deal of solidarity,” he said.</p>
<p>In order to fund sustainable development, the AAAA also urges mobilizing domestic resources and utilizing them as the primary source. According to the proclamation, these funds would help create operational institutions that will promote sustainable development, enhance government responsibility to citizens, and reduce reliance on outside assistance.</p>
