Sidhu tells Punjab Congress Leaders Refusing to Form an Alliance with AAP: “Party’s Word Supreme”

In reaction to state Congress leaders rejecting any coalition with the AAP in Punjab, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu stated on Wednesday that the party high command’s decision is final.

The comments of the cricketer-turned-politician came amid serious doubts by the Punjab Congress leaders regarding any collaboration with the governing party in the state.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-163181″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-no-agenda-for-the-meeting-talk-about-nine-issues-raise-by-oppn-sonia-to-pm-downloa.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com no agenda for the meeting talk about nine issues raise by oppn sonia to pm downloa” width=”1013″ height=”695″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-no-agenda-for-the-meeting-talk-about-nine-issues-raise-by-oppn-sonia-to-pm-downloa.jpg 271w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-no-agenda-for-the-meeting-talk-about-nine-issues-raise-by-oppn-sonia-to-pm-downloa-220×150.jpg 220w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-no-agenda-for-the-meeting-talk-about-nine-issues-raise-by-oppn-sonia-to-pm-downloa-150×103.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1013px) 100vw, 1013px” title=”Sidhu tells Punjab Congress Leaders Refusing to Form an Alliance with AAP: "Party's Word Supreme" 12″>

“The party high command’s decision is final. In order to uphold the spirit of the constitution and release the institutions that are imprisoned and rely on constitutional principles, the national interest has been retained as the top priority, Sidhu wrote on X.

“For the sake of preserving our DEMOCRACY, petty poison pump politics replete with egotistical entrenched interests should be abandoned. Elections are not fought for the next election, but for the generation that will follow. Live long, India. Jurrega BHARAT,” he said in a post.

On Tuesday, Congress leaders in Punjab said that they were opposed to joining up with the AAP in Punjab for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Both the Congress and the AAP are members of the INDIA bloc. Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, the leader of the Punjab Congress, said on Tuesday that the party was geared up to contest all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab.

In a conference, the party members requested that Warring and the opposition leader, Partap Singh Bajwa, inform the Congress high leadership of their opposition to any such action.

At its meeting in Mumbai on September 1, the INDIA group decided to run in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections jointly “as far as possible,” claiming that seat-sharing agreements in the states would be finalized as soon as possible in a “collaborative spirit of give-and-take.”

A 14-member coordination committee has been established by the alliance to serve as its highest decision-making body and to start the seat-sharing process.
