Maharashtra: Lathicharge on people agitating for Maratha reservation, Sharad Pawar reached Jalna to meet the injured

Politics has once again heated up in Maharashtra regarding the Maratha reservation. There is political turmoil in the state over Jalna violence. NCP President Sharad Pawar has reached Jalna to meet the injured. So there, Uddhav Thackeray will also reach Jalna by this evening and will know the condition of the injured. Let us tell you that there was heavy violence in Jalna on Friday. The miscreants had set many vehicles on fire. So on the other hand, many agitators have also been injured in the police lathi charge.

Now in the midst of all this, Sharad Pawar has also reached Jalna and met the agitators. During this, Sharad Pawar said that it was wrong to lathicharge the police. Everyone has the right to protest peacefully. Pawar said that Udayan Raje Bhosale, a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is also with us. On this I express my solution. On the other hand, after Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray will also go to Jalna this evening. Thackeray will meet those injured in the police lathicharge on people agitating for Maratha reservation.

In fact, since August 29, the agitators were sitting on a fast for the demand of Maratha reservation. The health of the hunger strikers was deteriorating, after which the police arrived to wake them up. During this time the dispute escalated and the police had to resort to lathi charge, after which violence broke out. The agitators blocked the highway and set fire to many vehicles. Also pelted stones heavily. Many policemen were also injured in this. The effect of bandh is being seen in Ahmednagar Beed and many other districts of Maharashtra in protest against lathi charge.

Let us tell you that the demand for Maratha reservation has been rising in Maharashtra for a long time. After which, in the year 2018, Maharashtra government had announced to give 16 percent reservation in government jobs and education. But this decision of the Maharashtra government was challenged in the Bombay High Court and in June 2019, the High Court reduced it and fixed the reservation at 12% in education and 13% in jobs. But when this matter went to the Supreme Court, the country’s biggest court sent the matter to the constitutional bench and then Maratha reservation was cancelled. The Maharashtra government had also filed a review petition in the Supreme Court, but it was also rejected by the Supreme Court this year. Now the reason for the controversy is that the people of Maratha community are demanding reservation and according to the Supreme Court, they cannot be given reservation because it exceeds the limit of 50 percent of the reservation.
