PM Appears To Have Ignored Manipur is on fire and no longer exists as we once knew it: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, said on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems to have forgotten that Manipur had been on fire for months while joking and laughing in the Parliament. He said that Manipur as we once know it no longer exists.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-123720″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-pm-appears-to-have-ignored-manipur-is-on-fire-and-no-longer-exists-as-we-once-knew-it-rahul-gandhi-download-2023-08-11t162517.449.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com pm appears to have ignored manipur is on fire and no longer exists as we once knew it rahul gandhi download 2023 08 11t162517.449″ width=”1275″ height=”955″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-pm-appears-to-have-ignored-manipur-is-on-fire-and-no-longer-exists-as-we-once-knew-it-rahul-gandhi-download-2023-08-11t162517.449.jpg 259w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-pm-appears-to-have-ignored-manipur-is-on-fire-and-no-longer-exists-as-we-once-knew-it-rahul-gandhi-download-2023-08-11t162517.449-150×112.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1275px) 100vw, 1275px” title=”PM Appears To Have Ignored Manipur is on fire and no longer exists as we once knew it: Rahul Gandhi 3″>

Rahul said that what he saw in Manipur was completely unusual and that Modi has to at the very least pay the place a visit. He continued by saying that the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had destroyed the state.

Rahul criticized Modi’s handling of the Manipur crisis as well, claiming that he has alternatives but isn’t using them, including the deployment of the Indian Army.

Rahul further charged Modi for laughing “shamelessly” as the delicate subject of Manipur was being discussed in the home.

Since May 3, when fighting broke out between the Meitei and tribal tribes of the state, Manipur has been plagued by racial conflict. There have been over 150 fatalities, 60,000 people have been forced to flee their homes, and there is a great deal of hatred between the two populations. Rahul also brought up crimes against women at the news conference, including the incident on May 4 when two tribal women were displayed nude and molested by a crowd.

The opposition has criticized Modi for failing to visit and talk about Manipur on several occasions. Only two months later, in July, when a video showing two tribal women being paraded nude and molested appeared, did Modi publicly address Manipur for the first time. An argument between the administration and the Opposition over a demand for a debate on Manipur and a statement from Modi on the matter dominated most of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. Nevertheless, Modi did not mention the violence in Manipur until the motion to remove him from office.

The Manipur that we once know no longer exists: Rahul

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, said that Manipur as we once know it no longer exists and that this is why he made the “Bharat Mata” remark in the Parliament, speaking at a news conference at Congress headquarters.

“I stated ‘Bharat Mata has been slain in Manipur’ because Manipur as we once knew it is no longer there…It’s offensive that the phrase “Bharat Mata” has never before been removed from Parliamentary records, according to Rahul, who was cited by PTI.

Rahul said that in his 19 years in politics, he has never seen a scenario like that in Manipur.

I have been in politics for the last 19 years, and I have been to every state, he said. I have never seen a worse scenario than in Manipur.

Rahul also criticized Modi for making jokes in the House of Commons when violence is raging in Manipur.

I have been in politics for the last 19 years, and I have been to every state, he said. I’ve never seen a situation as dire as Manipur…PM seemed to have forgotten that there have been fatal fires in Manipur for months.

Manipur was destroyed by BJP politics: Rahul

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, said that Manipur has been “decimated” as a result of BJP policies.

N Biren Singh, the chief minister of Manipur, was previously referred to be the “architect” of the violence by Congress and nine other opposition parties.

Rahul said that since members of one group were not allowed to accompany him to an area where members of the other community lived, the situation in Manipur was such that he had to change his security detail when visiting the state.

In his own words, “I declared ‘Bharat Mata has been slain in Manipur’ because Manipur as we once knew it is no longer there.A state has been destroyed as a result of BJP politics. I said that “Bharat Mata” had been slain in Manipur for this reason. These phrases were banned from the Parliament for the first time.

“We had to eliminate all Kukis from our security squad before entering Meitei districts. Similar to that, we had to eliminate all Meiteis from our security crew before entering Kuki districts. The central security personnel informed us “we haven’t seen anything like this” when we arrived there. That is why I said that the BJP had killed Manipur.

Rahul said that Modi spoke about himself in the address rather than Manipur in the Parliament.

He said, “PM can quickly put an end to the bloodshed in Manipur; he should at least travel there…It wasn’t about India in the (PM’s) address; rather, it was about Narendra Modi. He spoke openly about his beliefs, politics, and aspirations. The issue is Manipur’s burning, not whether he becomes prime minister in 2024.
