According to police authorities, letters requesting papers pertaining to the two men’s property and structures were sent to the relatives of the two men. Sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP) Lokesh Dabar said that both of the accused’s homes were built without authorization and on ‘nazool’ land, which is government property used for non-agricultural purposes. Bhadoliya’s home was also built on this kind of ground.

Eyewitnesses said that when the demolition team arrived at Bhadoliya’s home, his family asked the authorities to wait to take any action until the investigation was over. Nevertheless, they continued with the destruction. The two defendants, both 30 years old, were presented in court on Friday and ordered to 14 days of judicial imprisonment.

In a previous occurrence in Madhya Pradesh, the state government razed portions of a property held by a man named Pravesh Shukla for suspected unlawful encroachment after he was accused of urinating on a tribal youngster and detained by Madhya Pradesh police. Videos showed a JCB machine destroying a Pravesh-owned property in front of a large number of government representatives and law enforcement officers.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s office, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, responded by tweeting, “NSA has been summoned, bulldozer has been deployed, and if required, Mama ji would bury offenders 10 feet below the earth. The message from Mama Ji is quite clear, therefore anybody with bad intentions should think twice before committing a crime in Madhya Pradesh.
